I was at the Stoneridge Mall near my office in Pleasanton, CA this week an noticed that right next to the reserved parking space for handicapped persons, there was also this space for powering up electric vehicles. I wonder if one day there will be a lot more parking spaces like this?
The leading article for the weekly newspaper, The Independent, serving the Livermore, Pleasanton and Sunol communities was on the topic of local biofuel initiatives, and an other front page article on the topic of sites for a major composting facility in the area. It indicated that 2000 tons of composting materials, including food scraps, are generated each day in the county.
It is nice to see such attention to more sustainable alternatives. Just seeing these made me appreciate living in California, a state that is very progressive toward environmental concerns. I know that there are many other places in the U.S, where these initiatives would not have the same presence.
